About John
I have been a published journalist and editor since the late 1980s and I am a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists. In 1995 I earned a certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of California at Irvine extension school. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. My resume is available by request and I'm happy to answer any questions.

My lessons are designed for beginning to intermediate level students, whether English is your second or first language.
Tell me what your goals are and we will quickly come up with a plan to achieve them, however specific or broad-based they are, whether for school, social interaction or work.
I am a native English speaker and I come from a family of immigrants. As an experienced newspaper editor, I have worked with writers from all skill levels to produce professionally written stories.
As a tutor, I have lots of experience helping Spanish speaking students to improve their conversation and writing skills. Students from all language backgrounds are welcome.
I believe in all of my students. You are motivated to learn and I will do my best to encourage you, one step at a time.
