About Yuzhu
I am a masters student studying language education in the university of Edinburgh. Language is the lens for thinking and expressing in different perspectives. I have had five different internships around language, working for various fields like translation, education and journalism, which allows me to explore language in depth. I have been giving private lessons to one adult Chinese learner for over one year and helped her speaking soar from the elementary level to the intermediate level. I also had experience of teaching primary students English in China for half a year and sharpened my own teaching skills, namely, situational teaching. I am quite adaptable and would like to try creative methods using teaching materials beyond textbooks.

Depending on different students, my teaching method might vary but mostly focus more on applicable side of language, situating it in daily usages and communications. I like to combine language learning with art-crafts, like making your own illustration book. I enjoy teaching in real situations and creating plenty of chances for students to practice what they have learnt. I like to inspire students with various materials, visual or audio ones, encouraging them to free their imagination.
