About Sandra
As an educator, my aim is to build skills that students will need for their writing and/or English proficiency in their future academic endeavors.
I have experience teaching literature analysis in social justice topics and class planning for a university history course.
My studies in linguistics and social justice have allowed me to examine the structure and the nature of several languages, and have prepared me to work with different types of learners of all backgrounds. I am an individual that sees language as a tool, and one of my goals in my teaching is to decolonize language, especially in the context of students of different backgrounds.
Relevant UC Santa Cruz courses include: Variation of Language Processing, Psycholinguistics I, Phonology I & II, and Syntax I & II.
I am so looking forward to working with students on any English language proficiency or writing skills!

-Lessons are structured around skill-building and are led by particular students' needs. The goal is to uncover skills that the student can confidently use in their future writing/comprehension endeavors.
-This may involve assistance writing an essay outline, or exercises for spelling and grammar (dependent on students' grade level etc.)
-Reading comprehension work may involve text(s) chosen by the student or by the tutor that will be appropriate according to grade level
-My experience involves work with university students in social justice and history courses. I have experience working with students on their thought processes in writing and analyzing text.
-My academic experience in English, French, and preliminary linguistics has given me a unique perspective on English language teaching and acquisition.
