About Liv
Hello! I'm Liv. I'm a lifelong learner with a range of qualifications and years of experience facilitating learning - in schools, unschools, recreational settings and workplace training environments.
I completed the LANTITE Literacy and Numeracy tests for pre-service teachers in 2020 with above standard results. I hold a current Working with Children/Positive Notice blue card and relevant qualifications include an Associate Degree in Education Studies (focusing on Primary Years), a Diploma in Training and Assessment Systems (vocational education and training) and a Certificate III in children's services (early childhood education). I've also previously achieved a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management.
Now, I tutor Australian LANTITE test students, and Primary and Lower Secondary Years students. I am a respectful, engaging and experienced tutor. Looking forward to working with you! :) Liv.

Hello! I tutor online with Australian LANTITE Numeracy & Literacy test students, and Primary and Lower Secondary Years Math students. I aim to create respectful, engaging and worthwhile learning experiences. Together, we determine existing strengths (what students already know and can do), and develop a plan for those areas needing support. I uphold a strengths-based approach to learning, and encourage growth-mindset (everybody starts somewhere and we can all improve at what we do). Using a collaborative, interactive whiteboard, I follow an 'I DO, WE DO, YOU DO' approach to learning. I'll show students math concepts and skills, we work together to reason and understand using multi-sensory methods, students are supported to have go for competence and then encouraged to practice for mastery. I hold a Diploma in Training and Assessment Systems, an Associate Degree in Education Studies, a Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management... and a few others (I'm a lifelong learner). Perfect! From the first session, I could immediately tell that she was very professional and gets straight into Identifying what I need support with. She specialises in both Numeracy and Literacy for the ACER LANTITE Test , which is amazing and what I'm needing help with. Ive previously taken the test and struggles with both areas, so having someone who clearly understands the requirements and knows how to target those weaknesses is incredibly reassuring. :)

Perfect! Olivia is an incredibly tutor. We have engaged her to teach both maths and English 2 x per week for my 10 year old daughter for a term whilst she waited to commence at her new school. Olivia spent time building a wonderful connection with my daughter which made all the difference. She also structures the sessions in a fun and engaging way. But most importantly, my daughter learnt in several weeks what she might learn in a term because Olivia is a primary school teacher and taught my daughter in a focused yet fun way. I was apprehensive about whether it would be possible to learn effectively online but we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Perfect! Liv was so helpful with my confidence toward maths which is very scary for me. She broke down each question in different ways and understood that sometimes I understood things a bit differently to her and didn't get frustrated with me. A great tutor and excited for our 2nd lesson!

Today, we covered: - reading larger numbers as well as decimal numbers; - connecting decimal numbers to fractions and percentages; - comparing decimal numbers; - simple calculations with integers and algebraic equations; - calculating percentages of an amount, manually; and - determining perimeter and area of rectangles and triangles, including units of measurement. You easily converted hours to minutes, recognised the increments shown on a scale (the speedometer) and knew the operations to perform to solve the word problems. You have a solid base of general maths skills, Maddie, and strengths in reasoning. Practice would allow you to feel more confident with applying them in word problems. Reviewing the Order of Operations (BODMAS) would also be of benefit. We shared some websites for more LANTITE-style word problems that you could access and complete at your convenience. I highly recommend Liv. She is friendly and professional. She has formed a relationship with my child where my child feels comfortable and wants to learn. Liv will concentrate on what you want your child to learn and is patient. My child has found it easy to learn from Liv's style of teaching.
