  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have been tutoring for over 20 years. After finishing my law degree, I saw a gap in the market for law tuition. Many students complained about how poor some of the teaching was at law schools.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach all areas of law. The most popular areas of law including contracts, torts, criminal, property, constitution and international law. I spend a lot of my time reviewing papers, explaining concepts and correcting AGLC4 referencing.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I never had a role model, but I always wanted to be self employed and wanted to help other people achieve success.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, active listening and providing support and encouragement.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I was not interested in learning at High School, however, once I got to University, I did very well and enjoyed law school.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

There are not many difficulties encountered in teaching law. However, I'm not much help to law students who approach me at the 11th hour for help.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I enjoy the law, and I enjoy helping other people succeed at their legal studies. We also have a good time in the process.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

There are very few people who can teach a wide variety of compulsory law units and electives at the same time, whilst being competent and knowledgable in all areas.
