About João
As a Brazilian, I've been studying and experiencing the Portuguese language my whole life, but have also studied different languages. So I know how it is to learn a language and I know it can be a wonderful and fun, but also challenging, experience.
And I'm here to help!
During my experience teaching immigrants and refugees in Brazil, I've come to understand how learning it may be easier in some aspects and harder in others, depending on each student's first language and culture. That's why approaches must be different when teaching an English speaker compared to an Arabic speaker, for example.
I speak English and Spanish and I have some knowledge of the structure of a few other languages, especially Latin ones, but also some understanding on how Arabic and Mandarin work.
I have a major in Communication and Journalism and will graduate this year in Languages, with emphasis in Portuguese. In recent years, I've been teaching and creating educational materials for foreigners who want to learn Brazilian Portuguese.

Personalized lessons that take into account the different goals and proficiency levels each student may have.
Language is a means of communication and not a bunch or rules set in stone! We don't talk to our friends in the same way we talk to our boss, for example. That's why our dynamic together, as teacher and student, will be tailored to suit your needs and the possible situations you'll face while using the Portuguese language.
The lessons are online and last about an hour or two, but can be longer if necessary. Learning needs to be an enjoyable process, so we'll adjust to your pace and have a good time together!
