About Esme
I’m a guitar tutor with 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies. Alongside teaching, I regularly perform and compose music, which keeps my skills fresh and inspires my lessons. I believe music is a creative and lifelong skill that everyone can enjoy and grow with. I have worked with students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced musicians. My goal is to help each student develop their technical skills while encouraging personal expression and creativity. I focus on making learning enjoyable and meaningful, so students stay motivated and confident. Teaching guitar is more than just technique for me—it’s about helping students discover their own musical voice. I tailor lessons to fit each person’s goals and interests, whether they want to play for fun, perform, or compose. I’m committed to fostering a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. My teaching approach is designed to help every student find their unique voice on the guitar. I focus on building strong technical skills, including finger strength, picking accuracy, and timing. At the same time, I encourage creativity through improvisation and songwriting, so students can express themselves fully. I teach a wide range of genres, from blues and folk to rock and jazz, making lessons flexible and fun.
I pay special attention to developing a good ear, which helps with playing by feel and understanding music deeply. Whether a student loves strumming simple chords around a campfire or exploring complex blues solos, I support their goals and help them improve step by step. My lessons balance structured practice with room for personal expression.
I believe learning guitar should be inspiring, not stressful. I tailor my teaching to fit each student’s pace and interests. From beginners to advanced players, I guide them in building confidence and musicality. Together, we work on both technical skills and creative freedom. I want students to enjoy playing and feel proud of their progress. My goal is to help you play with skill, passion, and your own style.
