About Tomoko
Hello! I'm Tomoko, and you're welcome to call me "Tomoko-sensei". I am from Nagano, Japan and I've lived in Canada for 14 years.
Qualification: I have completed a Japanese Language Teacher Training Course. With 4+ years of teaching experience, I've taught all levels at a Japanese language school in Seoul for 2 years and offered private lessons in Canada. Don't worry - I communicate clearly in English!
I'm passionate about exploring new cultures, languages, and meeting new people. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new places (20+ countries), visiting national parks, hiking, and baking bread. I believe that by communicating in Japanese, you'll connect with locals and gain a deeper understanding of the culture. I am looking forward to meeting you and let'e improve Japanese together!

For bigger to advanced learners,
I use the Japanese textbook "Genki 1" , "Genki 2" and some others to top up to build strong grammar foundations. Genki 1 covers beginner - level topics from kana to adjective and verb constructions, while Genki 2 continues on to intermediate-level topics. Both textbooks focus on conversation, grammar, and reading. We'll practice formal and casual speaking together, building on what you've learned!
