About Jasper
Hi, I’m a passionate piano tutor with over 14 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Piano Emphasis. I’ve had the joy of guiding students of all ages and levels—from complete beginners to advanced and professional musicians. My lessons are shaped by a deep understanding of piano performance and education, gained through years of study and hands-on teaching. I specialize in teaching various types of pianos, including Grand, Upright, Acoustic, Digital, Classical, Player pianos, and Electric Keyboards. Whether you're learning on a home keyboard or a concert grand, I help you make the most of your instrument. My areas of expertise include chord theory, ear training, sight-reading, rhythm development, and improvisation. Each lesson is student-centered and tailored to your goals, learning style, and musical interests. I believe that learning piano should be a balance of structure and creativity. For school students, I focus on strong foundations and confidence-building. For adult and professional learners, I offer flexible, goal-driven lessons that fit into busy lives. My teaching approach is centered on helping each student build a strong musical foundation, no matter their starting point. I guide learners through structured skill-building that includes chord progressions, scale practice, rhythmic drills, and expanding their repertoire with songs they enjoy. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to connect technical skills with musical expression, so students stay motivated and progress steadily.
I believe music should feel both fun and meaningful. That’s why I bring real-time feedback into every session, helping students correct mistakes early and understand the "why" behind what they’re playing. My lessons combine structure with flexibility. If a student loves pop or soulful music, we integrate that into the learning journey.
Repertoire isn’t just assigned—it’s explored together. We choose pieces that align with the student's taste and skill level, while gently pushing their limits. I also encourage creativity, helping students add their own touch through improvisation or arranging.
Practice doesn’t have to be dull. I design engaging routines that keep learners coming back to the piano with excitement. Over time, students not only grow in skill but develop a deep passion for music. They gain the confidence to play for themselves—and for others.
