My philosophy on teaching is that the instrument, the voice, and even the hands are merely a tool for bringing art and emotion out from the soul into space. Thus, the disciplines of musicianship, beyond certain essentials, should serve the student, not the other way around. Discipline should serve passion; it should never replace it.
My lessons are highly holistic: a mix of the successful Faber method and various other concepts in piano I have learned over the years, tailored to the needs and ambitions of my individual student. We will start with foundations of reading music and piano posture/finger technique, and will build a basic understanding of the keyboard & the musical knowledge needed to navigate it. As we further establish basic disciplines, we will then focus on the areas of learning most suited to the student’s base ambitions as a performer and artist.
