About Larry
I have been successfully writing and selling my screenplays for over 30 years. I am a working writer with iconic hits like Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice 2 and The Addams Family in my résumé. The musical version of Beetlejuice continues a hit run on Broadway and will open in London in May of 2026. What’s unique about my experience is that I’ve worked successfully on “both sides of the desk”. I was a Creative Executive at Paramount Pictures, working directly with Jeff Katzenberg, the former president of Disney Pictures and founder of DreamWorks. I’ve worked with great writer/directors like James Cameron, Chris Columbus and Tim Burton. I was also a story analyst for every major studio in Hollywood, reading hundreds of scripts
I taught for decades at the University of California Screenwriting Extension Program and I've taught private workshops around the world.
I've been told by my students that I'm a very good teacher but an excellent coach. I will both teach and inspire you to WRITE AND FINISH your script!

My teaching/mentoring goes well beyond the typical “here’s a structure guide, now follow it”. I want to inspire your creativity, bring out your artistry and prove to you that you’re a natural story-teller, while also teaching you the fundamentals
Here's how your 12-week class will be structured:
WEEK 1 - IDEA
WEEK 2 – DEVELOP YOUR HERO
WEEK 3 – DEVELOP YOUR ANTAGONIST/VILLAIN
WEEK 4 – WORLD BUILDING
WEEK 5 - SCREENPLAY STRUCTURE/OVERALL
WEEK 6 – ACT 1
WEEK 7 – ACT 2
WEEK 8 – ACT 3
WEEK 9 – DIALOGUE
WEEK 10 – SCENES
WEEK 11 – YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH
WEEK 12 – FINAL QUESTIONS COMMENTS
12-week sessions will be conducted over Zoom and will run one hour per session.
Mentoring will involve me reading your script, as you write it, and giving you both insightful and inspiring script notes. There will be a weekly page limit on the amount of pages you can submit. The classes will be on a "pay as you go" basis. Doing a mentoring session along with the 12-Week class is a great way to get the full benefit of my teaching.
