About Flynn
Hi, I'm a singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Voice Major). I specialise in helping students prepare for auditions, competitions, and stage performances with confidence and control. Whether you're aiming for a lead role in a musical, a vocal solo, or a place in a music programme, I’ll guide you every step of the way. I teach a range of styles including Classical, Broadway, Pop-Rock, and Music Theatre. My lessons focus on developing clear diction, expanding vocal range, building agility, and refining repertoire choices to suit your voice and goals. I also place strong emphasis on dramatic interpretation and expressive delivery. I've worked with school students, drama majors, and adult singers returning to music after a break. Every student receives tailored coaching that meets their unique needs and strengths. I create a supportive and focused space to grow both technically and artistically. My singing methodology for The Church Ensemble Player and The Crossover Artist focuses on mastering versatility across genres like classical, pop, jazz, and gospel. Each style demands its own nuance, and I help vocalists adapt their tone, technique, and delivery accordingly. We work on breath control, diction, and dynamic expression tailored to the emotional core of each genre. For church ensemble singers, I emphasise harmonic blending, spiritual depth, and the ability to lead or support vocally within a group. For crossover artists, we focus on vocal agility, stylistic fluidity, and audience connection. Pitch control and phrasing are key, and I incorporate targeted ear training and vocal exercises to build consistency and confidence. Modern tools like DAWs, metronomes, and pitch training apps are integral to our sessions. They help track progress, refine timing, and sharpen vocal accuracy. Recording and playback allow for real-time feedback and self-reflection. We also explore improvisation and stylistic ornamentation, helping each singer find their authentic sound. My approach is structured but flexible, always supporting artistic growth. Whether you're performing in a worship band or blending genres on stage, I’ll help you build a voice that’s expressive, adaptable, and technically sound.
