About Timothy
My name is Timothy Martinez, but I insist you call me Tim for short :) • I'm 18 years old • I currently work at Mathnasium where I'm able to teach 100+ different kids • I currently attend the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) where I plan to transfer to USMSM for electrical engineering • Hobbies of mine include wrestling, gardening, composting, studying history, and strategy games like RISK and chess • At first, teaching was just a means to pay the bills, but after seeing how much visible and real-time change I was able to make among people who were once in my difficult position, tutoring became more than just a job. It became my joy to help others and allow them to reach new intellectual heights

As someone who once struggled with math myself, I understand the frustration that comes with not being able to understand something at first. It's this feeling that I view as a blessing since I know how a child can feel when they give it their all but still sadly come up short. It's this shared understanding that I can use to better connect with them, which I believe can help me better communicate the complex concepts of math with them. •️ I have over 4+ years of math tutoring experience through being a tutor at Mathnasium and a private tutor •️ I graduated from my school's prestigious engineering program while being at the top 10% of my graduating class with a GPA of over 4.25 (North Point High School) •️ I have taken courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, and much more •️ I believe learning should be fun and enjoyed by the student •️ I view tutoring as an art that can help others where they are right now or help them excel to new lengths Math is found in every aspect of life and is used for everything. To understand it is to understand the world you live in. When I quell your child's misunderstanding of math, it will give them a new hope and confidence that they too can become the next engineer, doctor, lawyer, or astronaut. Even if they have other aspirations in life, it's this possibility of potential careers that gives them the variety to choose, it lets them know they aren't limited by what they can't yet do. I believe every child is unique in their own way and learns differently. And to me, that is just how genius is born.
