Hi, I'm Ms. Jeanel, and I'm passionate about helping others find their voice through singing. I specialize in a wide range of styles including classical, pop, jazz, rock, movie themes, and blues. Whether you're a child, teen, or adult — a beginner just starting out or an advanced singer aiming to refine your craft — I tailor each lesson to suit your unique needs and goals. With a strong foundation in vocal technique and performance, my teaching focuses on helping students develop essential skills while building their confidence as performers. I emphasize the importance of breath control, vocal placement, and healthy singing habits to ensure long-term vocal health. We also work on developing a keen ear for pitch, improving timing and rhythm, and learning how to interpret and express the emotion behind each song. As a vocal instructor, I adopt a comprehensive and adaptable teaching approach that caters to students ranging from beginners to advanced levels. My lessons are conducted through Google Meet, utilizing PowerPoint presentations to introduce and explain various vocal techniques and concepts. This visual aid serves as a foundation for the practical exercises that follow.
To ensure a well-rounded vocal development, I incorporate a series of exercises focusing on different aspects of singing. We begin with scale vocalizations to establish pitch accuracy and control. These exercises are designed to strengthen the vocal cords and improve intonation. Following this, I guide students through facial massage techniques to release tension in the jaw and facial muscles, promoting relaxation and better articulation.
Breath control is another critical area of focus. I teach diaphragmatic breathing exercises to enhance lung capacity and support sustained singing. Techniques such as the "exhale on a hiss" method help in building breath control and stamina, essential for both short phrases and long passages.
Pitch accuracy is honed through various exercises, including sirens and lip trills. Sirens involve sliding smoothly from the lowest to the highest note and back down, which improves vocal flexibility and range. Lip trills, or lip bubbles, are playful yet effective exercises that engage the diaphragm and promote steady airflow, reducing tension and enhancing pitch control.
Dynamic and expressive control is developed through exercises that involve varying the volume and emotional delivery of phrases. This helps students convey the intended message and emotion of the piece being performed, adding depth and nuance to their singing.
My teaching methodology is designed to be inclusive, catering to a diverse range of students. Whether an individual is just starting their vocal journey or seeking to refine advanced techniques, my lessons provide a structured yet flexible framework that supports continuous growth and improvement in vocal performance.
