About Sandra
I am Sandra Tingalay, a practicing artist with a lifelong passion for painting, drawing, and exploring the beauty of the human figure and natural forms. I began painting at the age of seven and have continued developing my artistic practice through exhibitions, independent projects, and formal studies in visual arts and film production. My background includes a medical degree, which gives me a valuable foundation for understanding human anatomy and body structure. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, helping students discover their artistic abilities, and guiding them toward greater confidence, creativity, and skill. My goal is to make learning art an inspiring, supportive, and rewarding experience for every student.

# My Teaching Method and Approach
I believe that learning life drawing is about more than simply drawing what we see. It is about understanding the human body, observing natural forms, recognizing proportions, and expressing the beauty, movement, and character of the human figure through art.
My teaching approach combines clear explanations, visual demonstrations, practical exercises, and individualized guidance. I help students develop their observational skills, understand anatomy and proportions, and improve their use of line, shape, light, shadow, and form. I encourage students to develop confidence, patience, creativity, and their own artistic voice.
# A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is tailored to the student's experience, learning goals, and pace. We typically begin with a review of the student's progress and a short introduction to the day's topic. Depending on the student's needs, we may practice gesture drawing, basic shapes, body proportions, anatomical structure, contour drawing, figure composition, or light and shadow.
I demonstrate techniques step by step, explain the principles behind them, and guide students through hands-on drawing exercises. We finish by reviewing the work together, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and discussing practical exercises for continued development.
# What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I bring together my experience as a practicing artist, my medical education, and my background in film and visual arts. My medical training gives me a strong foundation for explaining human anatomy and body structure, while my artistic practice helps me communicate visual concepts in an accessible and creative way.
I am passionate about helping students understand not only how to draw the human figure, but also how to observe it thoughtfully and represent it with accuracy, sensitivity, and artistic expression. I create a supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, experiment, learn from mistakes, and grow at their own pace.
