About Scholastica
I am a recent college grad in business and science who attended a performing arts high school, in addition to a magnet high school, and performed in choir and at open mics throughout my undergraduate career. I have been in several church choirs (SATB, SSA), concert choirs (SATB, SSA), a chamber choir (SATB), and a glee club (SATB - focused on acapella music). Additionally, I have served as a choir section leader, choir fundraising chair, and am particularly humbled to have been trusted by others to improve skills in mixed voice singing. Skills in this particular type of singing are difficult to develop and improve due to the absence of a wealth of educational theory in mixed voice singing that would otherwise provide guidance to singers who want to learn about it.

My teaching methodology varies by student. I identify key strengths and weaknesses of each particular singer using techniques from classical training as well as benchmarks for skills I have identified as specific to mixed voice singing. I take this approach because each singer has different abilities and personalities, which are both strong factors to consider in developing their mixed voice. Next, I use a mix of classical music theory singing instruction and my own tried and tested methodologies to help singers improve not only on basic skills needed to have a solid mixed singing foundation, but also at least one particular personal singing goal singers I work with desire to achieve (i.e. singing a particular song, improving pocket). Sometimes these goals overlap (i.e. singer's personal goal is to sing more in tune).
