About Ella
I am a graduate student in Linguistics, and have 8 years of paid experience working as a tutor. I also have experience working with and in different languages, including Latin, German, Spanish, Turkish, Alasha Mongolian, and Classical Greek.
My job as a tutor is to meet students where they are at, no matter where the student is coming from. This includes working with students who struggle with (or just don’t like) high school English, as well as students coming from different language backgrounds.
My goal is to use the skills and knowledge that you already have (and everyone ALWAYS has more than they think), and use that as a foundation to build upon.

Hi! I believe that having a thorough command of the English language is absolutely essential for success!
I specialize in teaching academic writing at the university, high school, and middle school levels; I also teach Latin from elementary through high school.
I provide modules on English syntax, grammar, and writing that range from business reports, to emails, to school papers. These modules include extensive exercises that focus on revising and editing your own work, as well as exercises that will help solidify your understanding of English sentence structure.
Many people believe that writing objectively good English is impossible—that it all depends on what your teacher or boss wants. This is completely false. There are accurate and measurable standards for writing good English, and all lessons are structured with this belief in mind.
As a linguist, I especially enjoy working with people who do not speak English as their first language. I am very happy to work with speakers, readers, and writers of all levels of fluency and experience in Academic, Business, or Standard English.
