About Matt
I am a Level 5 LTA–qualified tennis coach and former LTA coach, with a First Class Honours degree in Sport Coaching. I have experience working in high-performance environments, including time spent alongside elite British players such as Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper, and Jamie Murray, and served as a coach for the Great Britain tennis team at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. I worked with Emma Raducanu between the ages of 15 and 17, overseeing her development during a period in which she progressed from WTA 850 to inside the top 350. I am currently coaching Lily Miyazaki (WTA 241). I also spent three years as a hitting partner at the Wimbledon Championships, including being part of Garbiñe Muguruza’s team during her Wimbledon title win. I enjoy helping players improve at any level and take a whole-player approach, focusing on technical and tactical development, mindset, and long-term progression.

My tennis lessons are designed to elevate every aspect of a player’s game. Each lesson begins with a dynamic warm-up emphasising movement efficiency, balance, and injury prevention through advanced footwork, mobility, and reaction drills. From there, I move into detailed technical work, refining stroke mechanics with a strong focus on timing, spacing, and clean ball striking. Sessions are structured and purposeful, with drills that demand precision, consistency, and control under pressure. Players are challenged to maintain technique at higher tempos while improving footwork recovery and shot tolerance. Tactical development is a core part of my coaching. I teach players how to construct points, recognise patterns, and make smart decisions in real time. Lessons normally finish with competitive point play or situational drills that replicate match conditions. Each session ends with clear feedback and defined goals, ensuring every player leaves knowing exactly how to continue improving.
