About Jess
Hi, my name is Jess Laine. I have been a professional educator since 2001, specializing in mathematics at all levels. My primary focus areas include Elementary and Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, College Algebra, and ACT/SAT Math Test Preparation. Although these subjects are my primary focus I can tutor other math courses. I hold a B.S. in Education with a mathematics emphasis and an M.A.Ed. in K-12 Leadership and Curriculum Development. I am licensed in elementary education, secondary mathematics, and ESL, and I am currently completing my Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, set to graduate in May 2025.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various educational settings, including public and private schools, in-person and online private tutoring, and online public and private school programs. I am also qualified to provide academic instruction to K-12 students working in the entertainment industry, such as TV, film, and live theater.
Mathematics has always been a passion of mine. My goal is to make math accessible and relatable to all students, no matter their current level of understanding. I strive to instill a love for math in my students by presenting concepts in ways they can connect with and appreciate.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing sports and expressing my creativity through music—I’ve been playing the piano since the age of four. I’m also an avid traveler, aiming to visit all seven continents. So far, I’ve explored six, and I’m planning to visit Antarctica in the near future to complete my goal.
