  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed a profound interest in music at a young age. Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I was immersed in a vibrant musical culture that celebrated diverse genres like reggae, soca, and calypso. I started as a professional dancer with the Candis Ann dance group, but it was my transition to singing at 17 that solidified my passion for music. The energy of live performances and the power of songwriting captivated me, leading me to a career that spans various musical styles and accomplishments, including reggae gold records and collaborations with notable artists.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Music is more than just a career for me; it's a form of expression and a way to connect with others on a deep emotional level. I love the way a song can tell a story, evoke emotions, and bring people together. Whether it's through performing live, writing songs, or teaching music, I'm driven by the joy and fulfillment that music brings both to me and to those who experience it. My passion is fueled by the opportunity to share this love for music with others, helping them discover their own musical voices and talents.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring allows me to pass on the knowledge and skills I've gained over the years to aspiring musicians. I enjoy seeing students develop their abilities and grow in confidence. What makes me a "Superprof" is my dedication to tailoring my teaching approach to each student's unique needs and goals. I combine my extensive experience as a performer and songwriter with a nurturing, motivational teaching style that encourages students to push their boundaries and reach their full potential.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain

Yes, I've had several role models throughout my journey, but one that stands out is The Mighty Shadow. His innovative approach to music and his ability to blend traditional Caribbean sounds with modern elements inspired me greatly. Working with him early in my career taught me the importance of staying true to my roots while embracing new ideas. His mentorship has left a lasting impact on my approach to music and performance.
  • What are your keys to success?

The keys to my success are persistence, versatility, and a genuine love for what I do. I've learned to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to adapt to the ever-evolving music industry. Staying versatile, whether it's in genres I perform or the roles I take on, has allowed me to keep my career dynamic and fulfilling. Above all, my success is driven by a relentless passion for music and a commitment to helping others achieve their musical dreams.
