About Kate
I am an artist and writer who has worked with many high school students, helping them gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed in English and history, as well as US Government and High School Economics. I have been working at a high school on the central coast for several years, tutoring students, individually or in small groups.
I am also a visual artist and have taught painting and drawing, and a bit of art history to adults and children.
I also am a fencer and I have taught many children, teens and adults the ins and outs of fencing.

I work primarily with individual students who are struggling with putting into words essays they are assigned to write, understanding how to write a thesis and in general, how to read for understanding. My goal is always to help the student learn to be an excellent reader and to feel comfortable with writing-- which, I believe, is the key to success in High School and College and also brings confidence and joy to living.
