I always thought that as an excellent Vietnamese linguistics student, I should have the upper hand in acquiring new languages. They are just the same languages. But it was not the case: my English was questionably awful. Only after taking an English linguistics class in my freshman year did I learn how profoundly the natures of languages vary. The deeper I delved into the English complexities of syntax, theme-rhythm, and phonology, the more I was mesmerized by this language, and I want to inspire other students with my English learning passion
