About Zeb
My background in English and Journalism makes me a great tutor if you are looking for a supportive educator who makes learning fun! I obtained my Master's in English from Boston University in 2023, then taught at a hospital before taking up one-on-one tutoring. Currently, I tutor all levels of English learners. Be it reading, writing, speaking, or literary analysis, I welcome any student who has a drive to learn!
Some examples of classes that I have taught are basic reading, writing, and comprehension courses, as well as English Literature (Victorian, postmodern, contemporary). My students usually show a marked increase in their test scores, and I have helped many learners reach their goal of obtaining a degree/diploma. The only rule in my class is to believe that you are capable of anything!

I usually work with high school students or older, but have also taught for 3+ years at the elementary school level! I tailor my lessons to each student's distinct learning style--so if you're a visual learner, prepare to find many audiovisual aids being used in our lesson! I also prefer to teach smaller groups (less than 5 students), so I can better devote my attention to each learner.
For a typical first lesson, I usually spend the first 10-15 minutes doing a quick overview of the subject background with the student to ascertain where the student is with their coursework. Building on that, I then introduce more complex concepts incrementally, going back to the basics often to reinforce learning. I also like reviewing our progress at the end of each lesson to make sure the student and I are on the same page. In a nutshell, constant reviewing and a strong grasp of the basics is the key to the mastery of any subject!
I love offering small incentives (badges, cute stickers, etc.) to motivate the class and keep learning light-hearted!
