About Nick
I am a composer and sound engineer based in Edinburgh, having recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh studying Composition for Screen MSc. I taught for a time at York College, though I am just starting out offering private lessons. Additionally, I worked as a studio assistant in a Leicester-based studio, and a sound engineer for an Edinburgh-based film company.

The way I teach is to work with student's ongoing projects, offering immediate feedback and offering useful mixing, composition and arranging advice. Alternatively, the lesson can revolve around creating new projects from scratch, or going through the fundamentals step-by-step. Given my diverse education, I aim to offer flexibility in my approach to tuition.
I am willing to provide lessons to any level of study, though for Master's students and above it may be more useful to focus on feedback and discussions about work rather than the fundamentals.
Work can be done on my computer using Studio One, Pro Tools, and Sibelius. Logic Pro X can also be used through my laptop. I use Kontakt Komplete as well as CineSamples Strings. Additional software will have to be ran from the student's computer. I can also provide access to two hardware synthesisers if required.

Nick is a wonderful & kind tutor who offers great practical solutions to your own journey into Composition, both digitally/technically and creatively
I've known nick for quite a few years now meeting him just before he started university, he's friendly and welcoming.
As a musician he's talented and hard working yet at the same time remains relaxed and easy going. He might be too humble to big himself up but i'll say it for him.
If you're looking at a few different tutors ... pick Nick.Nick has studied music for a number of years and I've collaborated with him before on various compositions.
Nick created stunning music and sound design for my short film. He's a great musician and clearly very skilled! He's also a very patient, friendly and dedicated person to work with, making him a great tutor.
