About Chalyn
I have been a lifelong student of biology and know that no matter how much I learn, there will always be more to discover. My passion for the natural world and the intricacies of biology inside and out have never wavered, I would love to share these interests with you! My education has primarily remained within marine biology, zoology, and oceanography, but I am still thoroughly interested in and well versed on many different biology subjects. I come from a very medically oriented family, which is where my love for and expertise in anatomy come from, but also possess a wide range of knowledge in all things ecology. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology and Sustainable Aquaculture with an emphasis in Animal Psychology and Behaviour obtained in the United States. I also have a Master's degree in Wildlife Documentary Production obtained in the UK where I furthered my training in wildlife biology, but also my education in how to communicate these complex topics in an engaging and understandable way to any audience.

I have found in my previous experience that biology is easiest to understand when taught through an analogy of either your own interests or a common scenario that you have encountered. So I may ask you some questions initially that seem irrelevant, but will allow you to understand complex topics in an easily digestible way that you'll enjoy. Some examples from the past are: - A baker who grasped the complexity of an ecosystem through baking a cake - A corporate executive who finally understood the intricacies of microbiology through the comparison to a company's structure - An artist who was able to see the chemical breakdown of oceanography through the delicate balance of a colour palette on a canvas I have been teaching a variety of subjects for more than 10 years now, but biology is my greatest passion and by far my favourite subject. I feel confident that I could teach any age and any level, but most of my previous students in biology have been 10 years or older. I look forward to learning with you!
