Found Oliver through a recommendation after my daughter struggled to get her argument off the ground for the Philosophy category. She's a strong writer with good vocabulary but her teacher said that she struggled to go beyond A Level quality.

Oliver's approach was well structured but listened and adjusted based on her needs. First session he showed the flaws in the argument she was making, and that there wasn't as much substance to it as she thought. He pushed her to find the genuine tension in the question rather than restating the obvious with citations. The difference between her draft one and final submission was significant enough that I actually questioned whether it was still her work (it absolutely was; I watched the process).

He's clearly read widely beyond his background and knew the marking tendencies for her category specifically. Turnaround on written feedback was less than 24 hours, comments were direct and didn't waste her time.

Oliver guided me through my John Locke essay when I was panicking close to the deadline. I haven't used SuperProf before and I wasn't sure about the quality of the tutors.
