About Rolf
Hello, my name is Rolf, and I'm a master's student in electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University (TU9), specializing in electronics/analog-mixed signal design. I gained practical experience through an internship at Infineon (concept engineering and signal processing-related tasks). At RWTH Aachen University, I worked on simulations and analog design for new analog memory elements, as well as system-level design with Cadence, ASIC prototyping in the lab, PCB design, and hardware programming. I also served as a tutor for teaching.

Language of instruction:
Available in English and German according to your preference. I've studied and communicated electrical engineering topics in English in a company context, and my M.Sc. was English-taught. Apologies, but to keep things concise I have not written two separate texts; I hope the translator of your choice will resolve this issue :)
Tutoring for students:
My tutoring is primarily aimed at students of electrical engineering or closely related subjects.
Tutoring location:
I can teach you in Aachen, the Cologne area, and online.
Tutoring subjects:
Based on my practical experience and personal interests, ideally: analog/mixed signal design, signal processing, fundamentals of electrical engineering, electrodynamics, RF systems, RF circuits, control engineering, fundamentals of physics.

Results-oriented work:
At the beginning, we'll clarify your goal (passing exams, understanding specific topics, lab work/projects) and then tailor the lessons (and, if desired, your rough study plan for home) accordingly. For specific questions, please send me the relevant documents (e.g., scripts) in advance so we can work on them efficiently during the lesson.
Interactive learning style:
If possible and appropriate, we'll actively approach the tutoring session together: you calculate, sketch ciruits and ideas, explain steps to me – I'll ask questions, provide structured feedback, show you my thought processes/typical solutions, and discuss with you. This active learning approach has been proven to lead to better results in STEM subjects than a monologue that gently rocks you to sleep. That's why I prefer an in-person appointment!
Mathematics follows intuition:
At university, I found learning easiest when professors first built an intuitive physical understanding of a system and simplified systems. I find it more effective for long-term understanding and more elegant to then delve into the mathematical description of a system/circuit. If possible and useful, I would like to try this with you. We will try to adapt the learning style to you iteratively, regardless of my preferences, and with your feedback.
