About Brenda
I have been teaching in various capacities for almost thirty-five years. I hold bachelor's degrees in English and Psychology and a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature. My experience includes teaching at all levels, from preschool through college. For the past eight years I have been the director of a private sports academy high school, guiding our junior and senior high school students through a prestigious online curriculum.
I also educated our three children at home through high school and am proud to say they are all successful adults. I have extensive experience with homeschooling methods and philosophies and have taught at homeschool co-ops covering all areas of middle and high school English.
In addition, I have tutored countless students of all ages and backgrounds, in person and online.
I am a native Californian, having lived in the same area since age five. I am a lifelong conservative Lutheran, happily married. My husband and I enjoy being involved in church activities and conservative political interests. We are ocean people and love working in our yard and, thankfully, spending time with our adult children.

Every person is a unique and talented in his or her own way. This is the center of my teaching philosophy. Considering how each person's ideas and thoughts are so valuable, I help each learner embrace his or her strengths to move from current competencies to future success.
Also, as all people are unique, I design and adapt my approach to teaching to strengthen each person's unique perspective, encouraging and correcting in patience and kindness. Therefore, I have no one-size-fits-all lesson plans. Your situation dictates our approach. However, wherever you are in your English journey, I'm here to help take you further in confidence.
