About Caleb
My teaching approach is deeply rooted in rhythm. I use rhythm-based techniques to help students develop stronger timing, energy, and groove in their singing. Through exercises in syncopation, beat subdivision, and rhythmic phrasing, we explore how rhythm brings songs to life—especially in styles like gospel, funk, and jazz. I guide students to feel the beat in their bodies, not just count it in their heads. For learners who connect through movement or creative instinct, we’ll tap into physical rhythm exercises, clapping patterns, and vocal improvisation to build confidence and musicality. I also support emotionally expressive singers by helping them channel feeling into rhythmic choices and vocal texture. Whether you're working through nerves or exploring a new genre, I create a space where natural expression and technique grow side by side. Lessons are engaging, flexible, and always centered around your personal style and goals. We might work on locking into a pocket with a funk groove one week and telling a soulful story through a slow jazz ballad the next. I also include tools like looping, backing tracks, and call-and-response to strengthen your rhythmic feel.

I’m a dedicated vocal coach with over 5 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education, specializing in voice. My greatest passion lies in helping singers unlock the art of vocal storytelling—especially through the rich worlds of Jazz Standards, Broadway solos, and Golden Age repertoire. I believe that every note carries a story, and I love guiding students to deliver those stories with authenticity and flair.
With a deep foundation in swing phrasing, jazz ornamentation, and character interpretation, I help singers bring both nuance and boldness to their performances. I also emphasize lead sheet reading and musicianship, empowering my students to feel confident and independent in any musical setting. Whether you’re brushing up for your next community theatre role or returning to singing after years away, my lessons meet you where you are.
I’ve had the joy of working with passionate adult beginners, seasoned vocalists, and theatre performers alike. My teaching style is warm, structured, and performance-focused, always tailored to each singer’s unique voice and goals. We’ll work on technical clarity while diving deep into emotional expression.
