Jerry Polman is an experienced and highly skilled music educator and performer. He was awarded first prize in the graduate/professional division of the Indiana state chapter of the National Association of Teacher’s of Singing annual competition. He has recently returned from a European tour, during which he was the bass soloist in a Mozart mass in the Salzburg Cathedral. Most recently, he was seen on the opera stage as Wurm in Verdi’s Luisa Miller with Amici Opera. Other recent roles include Attila in Verdi’s Attila, Abimelech in Saint-Saëns’ Samson, Daland in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer , David in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, the Sacrestano in Puccini’s Tosca, Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the Marquis in Verdi’s La Traviata. Jerry has sung a number of oratorio roles including Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Bass Soloist), Haydn’s Creation (Raphael/Adam), Handel’s The Messiah (Bass Soloist), and Mozart’s Requiem (Bass Soloist).
For the past several years Mr. Polman has been celebrated as the cantorial soloist for Passover and The High Holy Days at Temple Beth El in Muncie, IN. Jerry is a featured soloist and professional chorister at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE. Mr. Polman taught individual voice lessons at Ball State University from 2008-2010, and currently teaches the same with the Music School of Delaware. Mr. Polman is the Upper School Vocal Music Director at Wilmington Christian School in Hockessin, DE. He has conducted groups of all ages with distinction; including church, school, and community groups. He has directed choirs on both coasts, in the Midwest, and on musical tours throughout the United States and South Korea.
