Usually in my lesson plans, I try to first discern the student’s ability and proficiency in the subject. I spend the first half of the lesson revising topics/areas that they are weak in, then proceed to assign them questions/past year examination papers for revision. If they struggle, I think it’s necessary to go through the paper with them step by step. If they are able to do it, I usually mark their papers afterwards and follow up on their mistakes. At the same time, I don’t want the atmosphere to be too stifling and stressful as well, so I usually find fun methods to teach (targeted mostly at the younger demographic of students) or use hypothetical examples/real life examples to link certain concepts, for a simplified understanding of the material.
