  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I used to explain my colleagues and friends a lot of concepts as a student in the school years as well as in my college time. Sometimes they came to me for their queries rather than going to the teacher. I realised I could do well as a tutor and started teaching along with college studies and found out that it made me happy when I spent the whole day teaching. Also It never felt like work or job to me. Never felt tiring. I perceived my student and me to be an exciting team that always wanted to conquer something fabulous. As my students and their parents started referring me to others a lot and I found my happiness in looking at my student's increased interest in studies, I chose private tutoring.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I like teaching Physics, Maths, Programming, English, And Hindi. Sometimes I just help them with their school assignments, or just something that they are trying to understand and complete, like a report or a presentation.I like to discuss experiments, examples , analyzing videos on topic at hand and learning them in a fun way. Topics wise: Electrostatics, Magnetism, Current, Mechanics etc in Physics are fun to teach. In Maths I like to explain my students Matrices, Determinants, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and concepts in Algebra. In Programming , I find JavaScript, Core Java, C, C++ to interest me while teaching mostly. Also other computer science subjects like Game development,Database Management Systems,Operating Systems, Algorithms, and Data structures are also the subjects that I love to teach. I like it less when any student expects me to give them solutions to any question without understanding them understanding the concept well.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is my role model. He inspired me as a teacher very deeply. He believed in simplicity and I also believe in the same. His hard work and commitment to his work inspired me the most. He was a teacher with great values. This era need such teachers badly.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

In my school time, I used to be a little shy and easily got scared of the teachers.Once My teacher asked us to memorize the definitions related to geometry like Acute Angles, Adjacent Angles, Circumference etc. I used to find my math teacher to be very strict and when she asked me to tell her the definition of "Adjacent Angle" ,I fainted. She asked me to stand outside the class as a punishment.I went outside with my notebook and thought why couldn't I say that definition! I could say that now also.It came to my realization that I was scared to see the teacher's strict face , and I should do something to forget the thrill of that experience ,of her standing and asking me. So, I practiced my own technique for 5 mins and came to the teacher .I decided not to see her face but for sure I would tell her what I memorized and understood. She said, ok! Don't tell me the definition, Say that in front of the class! I stood in front of the class without looking up, I sang ……..

    Adjacent Anglesssss Adjacent Anglesss,
two such angles with saaame vertex, one arm common and with,
da da da with their other Armmmmmm,
Da da da Lying on opposite siiiiiidesss,
of this common arm are called, Ajacent Angles!! Yeah!

My class started going mad, laughing , clapping, and what not. I thought I will be facing serious implications because of this Adjacent Angles Song, but to my surprise I saw my teacher laughing!! My image of her in my head changed instantly! I thought she's not that strict after all! Then she clapped and said that was very funny , creative and intelligent! I got really happy and became one of her favorite student.

I learnt that my creativity could not only reduce my stress at times but it could also help me build something unique if I paid attention to my learning skills rather than overthinking and getting scared of imaginary situations. When I faced my teacher It helped me to know my fears, to know how to handle it , to know that one , when studying should be focused such that no fear should be able to let you forget what you studied, and of course! Singing a definition is actually a cool thing!! Hahaha!
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

In Physics, I sometimes take a little longer to explain the concept when I am not sure that my student has understood. Physics being a vast subject requires me to revise before I start a class. In mathematics, while in class sometimes I Write steps that might look unnecessary to my student but it makes my student understand that each step of written makes sure that we are not making silly mistakes or missing points. In programming, I write comments and that helps my student to understand the program better , but it takes a little more time than just writing the program.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Teaching is my passion. I have interest in finding ways to make learning a subject more fun. I like it when my students come with an experiment that explains some concept in a better way,or come up with examples supporting the concept. My journey with my student becomes more interesting when they get involved in the subject not only to score better but also to become knowledgeable. When my student leaves my class, we both should wait for the next amazing session, that's something that drives my passion for teaching.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)

When I teach, I try to put myself in the shoes of my student as well.I take into account his previous experiences around the subject, anything else that can make me relate to my student more and similarly I try to tell my student how happy I become when they do well in my subject My student and me as a team makes me a Superprof and my student a Superstud.
