About Jacob
I have always loved teaching. Whether it be helping a friend with a concept in class, or a tailor-made tutor plan for a long-term tutee. For me, the passion comes from sharing my knowledge of a subject that I enjoy so much. I am truly invested in not only the outcomes of my students but also their enjoyment and confidence with maths itself.
Studying mathematics and statistics at Warwick has given me a fresh perspective on different ways to view a topic or a problem.
Very rarely is a weak spot due to a lack of competence or 'thinking power'; things simply need to be considered from a different angle.
Unlike many other tutors, I have self-taught my GCSE and A level before my peers. I feel that I gained real insight on 'learning to learn' and metacognition, skills that are essential for securing your progress outside of lessons and approaching exams.

I am passionate about teaching mathematics through understanding and building intuition rather than cramming and memorising. By self-teaching in school and moving onto university maths, I've learnt that deeply understanding maths greatly saves on the memory load.
In my tutoring style I pride myself on making lessons fun, engaging and stress-free. I believe that a good mindset towards a subject and enjoyable lessons results in the fastest improvement.
