About Karen
Hello,
My name is Karen and I am looking to branch outside the traditional classroom that I have been working in for the last 7 years and start one-on-one or small-group tutoring. I spent 2 years teaching 5th grade in Charlotte, North Carolina, and moved back to Michigan where I have been teaching 1st and 4th grade for the last 5 years. Prior to my classroom experience, I was an Outdoor Education Instructor at 2 YMCA camps in Michigan. Working with kids has always been my passion, after 7 years in the classroom I am looking to make more of an individual impact on students' lives. Often we have classes of 25+ students and limited time to attend to the needs of each individual student. I want to help all students I work with gain confidence and feel successful with their schoolwork. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and I am working on my M.A. in Elementary and Middle School Mathematics Education. Throughout my 7 years of teaching 1st, 4th, and 5th grades I have seen kids at every level and have crafted interactive, hands-on lessons and activities to help them grow as a learner. I am looking to branch out of the traditional classroom and use my knowledge and experience to help your student increase both their knowledge and confidence.
