About Brent
I received my BA in Spanish and Anthropology, and my MA and PhD in Comparative Literature with an emphasis on Latin American literature. Since receiving my PhD, I have translated several articles from Spanish to English for publication in Patagon Journal, while working as a middle school Spanish teacher.

I believe the best approach to learning a language is through comprehensible input or "CI". This basically means that lessons are built around "core structures" or "essential vocabulary" that we use in a variety of authentic and meaningful contexts throughout the lesson, while "staying in" Spanish as much as possible.
However, whenever students have a question about the grammar that is puzzling them or preventing them from applying the core structure or vocabulary appropriately, I am always willing to pause, come out of Spanish, and explain the grammar as needed.
For students who feel they need more of this type of grammar-based instruction, I am happy to spend more of our time in English, providing instruction on Spanish grammar.
