About Marcel
As for my background, I was born and raised in Brazil, I’ve been in California most of my life. I have a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, I’ve been nominated for a Grammy, I toured the world with Michael Bublé for over ten years, I’ve performed on many TV and radio shows in the US and abroad, I’ve been featured on major Hollywood films. I’ve written for orchestras and string quartets, jazz groups and pop stars. I’ve also taught a good deal of students, from ages 6 to 60 in conservatories, high schools, universities, online, I’ve taught classes and private students.
I’m very communicative, I’ll tell you about any issues I am having or that I might foresee coming up and I want you to feel comfortable doing the same. I will check in with you regularly and create space for you to express to me how our lessons are going, from your perspective.
Being punctual, respectful, personable, being able to make our time together fun as well as serious; those are all a must - every musician has to learn those skills to do well in this business and I’m very adept at those.

I like to structure my lessons so that they meet your needs, everyone is different and learns differently and my job is to fashion our lessons to best fit your learning style.
A typical first lesson starts with assessing where you are and where you would like to go with your music. Once I have a sense of these factors I can custom build a path for you and, as we move along this path, I’ll get a sense for your learning style and adapt my methodology to fit how you process information.
I like to keep students engaged and I find learning music that you care about helps, learning songs that you want to learn gives us short, mid and long term goals to shoot for. Songs also give us an opportunity to talk about music concepts that you might want to learn - such as music theory, ear training, technique, sight-reading, etc.

Details
I don’t normally do house calls but I am open to it. I had to put a numerical figure here for transportation so I entered $200, but that’s likely not what I would charge you. Unless you’re quite far from me. If you’re interested in in person lessons let’s talk, we can try and find a schedule/rate that works for everyone.
