About Rob
Hi, I’m Rob. I’m a Mixing & Recording Engineer. In 2008, I established Silent City Recording Studio in Leeds. UK, becoming known for producing indie, metal and experimental music. I also developed a passion for choral works, recording choirs on location in venues including: Birmingham Symphony Hall, Coventry Cathedral, Leeds Minster, Wakefield Cathedral and many more. My productions have been aired on BBC Radio 1, Radio 3, Radio 6, BBC Music Introducing and Kerrang! TV. Clients include: Mike Moran Baard Kolstad Alex Mendham & His Orchestra Jeffrey Skidmore & Ex Cathedra Joey Sturgis Tones Tom Quayle Academically, I have a BSc (Hons) in Mathematical Studies from University of Leeds, 2003. I also studied Music Production at Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) in 2005. Additionally, I privately studied Jazz for two years with mentor, Tom Quayle, circa 2006.

I cover both artistic and theoretical topics in real client mixing sessions. You'll see the exact processing chain and understand the mindset to develop the desired sound. As a highly skilled musician, I can also discuss production and arrangement, with a plethora of knowledge in music theory and compositional techniques. Where possible, I love to use your own songs and production projects as examples when demonstrating techniques. Available for beginners who are just starting out, or more challenging lessons for those that already have experience and want to explore advanced topics. - One-to-one online lessons via VST Connect with lossless audio. - Navigate with me through real client mixing sessions, see the techniques used. - Learn how to use these skills on your own projects. - For ages 11 and above! - Sessions are one hour.
