About Matthew
Hi, I’m Matthew - a music production tutor, producer, and drummer with a degree in Commercial Music from Bath Spa University.
I specialise in helping beginners and university students develop their skills, build confidence, and most importantly finish and release their music.
One of my students came to me struggling with confidence and considering dropping out of their music degree. After a few months of lessons, they were making music consistently and released their first tracks – which is exactly the kind of progress I aim for with every student!
Alongside tutoring, I have years of hands-on experience producing, recording, and releasing music, as well as performing live. This means I don’t just teach theory. I teach what actually works in the real-world music industry.
As a tutor, I’m patient, approachable, and focused on making lessons enjoyable and easy to follow. I break everything down step-by-step so you never feel overwhelmed, and I always adapt lessons to suit your goals and level.
My aim is simple: to help you feel confident and creative. Reach your goals, and make music you’re proud of!

I don’t just show you what to do – I help you understand why you’re doing it, so you can apply everything to your own music straight away.
Each lesson is tailored to your goals and typically focuses on one key area, such as:
• Music production fundamentals
• Beat making and sound design
• Mixing and improving track quality
• Arrangement and finishing songs
• Workflow and creativity
Lessons are interactive, using screen sharing, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice so you’re actively learning throughout.
I can also provide simple exercises and guidance between lessons to help you keep improving and building momentum.
