About Scott
am a musician and educator, with over 20 years experience teaching music, privately and in public schools. I have a bachelor's degree in music from U.C., Santa Cruz, and numerous music education courses from Cal State University, Bakersfield, and am currently seeking a master's degree in composition.
I've performed in numerous and various musical ensembles; rock bands of many genres, choirs, opera, bands for musical theater, composed and performed songs for plays.
I have lead school performance groups including band and choir, as well.

First we determine if the student wants lessons focused on an instrument or toward theory and notation. Also, what the student wants to get out of it, or where they want to go with it.
Each lesson, then, would have a mix of practical exercises, theory and notation as it would appropriately apply, and performance pieces selected by teacher and student, blending interest with ability and suitable rigor.
