About Dub
20 years experience playing guitar,
18 years playing drums, and
12 years on bass, my compilation of experiences build on each other, strengthen that strengthen each other, giving me a foundation so strong,
What SETS ME APART as a music teacher is my unique experience:
I started playing guitar at 12.
I started playing drums at 14.
I started singing at 17.
I started bass guitar at 20.
I played drums in every band I’ve been a part of, from ages 14-32.
From funk, to punk, to pop, to rock.
When every musician I played with wanted to be THE guitar player, I chose to rise to the occasion and pursue true understanding & excellence of the other instruments: drums & bass.
This shows the flexibility of not only my learning potential, but of my character & personality.
This flexibility has become my greatest strength & asset.
The understanding of rhythm & musical time I gained from studying drums directly improved my rhythm guitar, lead guitar, & bass guitar playing. (Essentially my understanding of music as a whole!)

WHAT SETS ME APART as a tutor is my ability to communicate learning material in a way the student can understand, with words the student clearly understands.
What SETS ME APART as a music teacher is my ability to efficiently & effectively transfer my understanding to a student. I relate to students, at whatever place they are in their musical journey. I can see how they need the learning material explained to them so it clicks.
My teaching method depends on the student: where in their journey they currently are, and where they want to go.
I pay close attention to the student’s playing, so I can identify their strengths as well as where they can improve.
Generally, the stronger a student’s foundation of understanding is, the more capable that student is to learn & master their chosen goals & techniques.
My teaching technique focuses on empowering each student to feel confident in their abilities with their instrument.
Investing in the individual’s strengths & weaknesses so every student can feel proud and confident in their abilities.
WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT: students know how to EFFICIENTLY use their practice time alone to EFFECTIVELY produce results.
While learning multiple instruments, I have discovered how to most efficiently use one’s practice time.
