About Alan

Hi, my name's Alan I am a fourth year medical student at the University of Birmingham. I have been tutoring on various tutoring sites since first year and have come across a plethora of students. At A-levels I did biology, chemistry and maths all of which I excelled in and even dabbled in further maths. This gives me a good understanding of how exam boards like their answers and it has aided me in explaining things to students. I understand things at a basic level at first and then build on it and this also seems to work with my students so I reflect myself a lot in how I teach. I also have a background in business and have run a few startups or helped with business advice. I have performed well in the UCAT and can tutor this and can also help with medical school MMI prep. If that is what you are looking for. If you have any advice on how to teach yourself or the student please feel free to let me know so we can make it more accessible for them.

My lessons are structured in a way that I initially test the student's knowledge to see how much they know about a topic. I then move on from this and then will go through content that the student doesn't understand and will finish off with a set of exam style questions to help students to write answers in the future. I also have experience teaching those with learning disabilities so making things more engaging than my normal lesson or allowing the student time to process are both things that I can adapt and I can continue to adapt my teaching style to match my student.
