About Jean

Born in Québec City, my father had been posted at the Valcartier Canadian Forces base. My first language was Québec French. My parents moved back to Montréal when I was 6 years old. That's when I discovered American English for the first time because of cable TV. I was immediately enamored with the language and culture of America and it eventually led to my emigrating to the United States. I stayed in Montréal from the age of 6 to the age of 29. Montréal is a truly English and French bilingual city. You get to learn both languages and all their equivalencies and you quickly get to transfrom French sentences to English and vice versa. There are "tricks" to get it done simply and quickly. I can share all my tricks with you.

About the lesson

Méthode du Sablier as it was taught to kids in Québec. This method is all about the sounds of French and how to pronounce and write each one of the sounds of French. You will be able to defintively identify each sound and pronounce it the right way.

Bescherelle Conjugaison
Know all the verbs and how to conjugate them. French verbs and tenses demystified and their America English equivalents.

Bescherelle Grammar
The basics on how to build your sentences in French. Good news: it is very similar to English!

Bescherelle Orthographe
The right way to write words in French and the different rules and exceptions. French was the language of the "Elites". As such, they made it full of exceptions that the uneducated "plebs" couldn't possibly be aware of. It was the language of the snobs. But don't you worry: I have you covered and modern French has abandoned a lot of those elitist exceptions. North American French absolutely has.
