About Ally
I was born in Germany but have been living in London for the past five years. Before I moved here I studied and lived in Cologne. It was during my semester abroad in Sydney when I realised how fun it is to really get immersed into a new culture and with that their native language! I always liked English and was never necessarily bad at it but for sure far from fluent. After that experience I made it my goal to really hone in on bettering my English skills and as the universe has its ways ended up working for a British company. I quickly became friends with a lot of Brits and will say that made my move so much easier. Saying that my takeaway is that languages bring people together! On a more serious note I love tutoring and had several students both whilst I was in school and all the way through university that I tutored on a weekly basis. I’ve helped students better their grades and find some joy in otherwise little beloved subjects such as Latin, maths and physics. Now that I’m older I would love to work with adults and their individual goals for learning a new language!

I believe in a personal approach to every student and situation. Starting with an initial assessment my goal is to tailor our sessions to exactly what it is you would like to achieve. Be it to prepare for a trip or ahead of moving country, to simply gain an understanding of the German language or to better your grades - you set the tone! Within our session(s) I’d like to incorporate a multimedia approach as that is precisely what helped me get fluent in English as opposed to just dry studying alone. If you decide to give me a shot I promise your lectures won’t be boring and you’ll see German isn’t half as hard as its reputation might make you believe.
