About Valentina
I’m a native German speaker, raised and educated in Germany, and a Sociology graduate from Bielefeld University. I’m also currently studying Psychology and have lived in London for six years. I speak Standard High German, comparable to BBC English.
Before moving to the UK, I worked as a management consultant and in senior management in Germany, with responsibility for around 400 employees across 60 stores. I’m also an IHK-certified trainer with extensive experience delivering professional workshops and training.
My style is friendly and humorous, but also structured, professional and analytical. I speak fluent English, so I can explain things in English when needed – although the aim is, of course, to get you speaking as much German as possible!

My lessons are practical, engaging and tailored to you. As a native German speaker, I focus particularly on helping adults become more confident and natural when speaking German – whether for everyday life, work, travel or simply because you enjoy the language.
I believe languages are best learnt by actually using them. Conversation therefore plays an important role in my lessons, alongside vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar where needed. Rather than following a rigid programme, I adapt each session to your level, interests and goals. We might work with real-life situations, discuss current topics, practise a professional conversation or simply focus on getting you to speak more freely without worrying about every mistake.
With a background in sociology, psychology and senior management, I particularly enjoy working with adults who want stimulating conversation as well as language practice. I can also help professionals become more comfortable using German in meetings, presentations, interviews and workplace conversations, including navigating some of the cultural differences between German- and English-speaking environments.
I am a native German speaker rather than a formally qualified German teacher, so I am transparent about where I can offer the most value: conversational German, fluency, confidence, natural expression and professional communication. My lessons are particularly suitable for adult learners from intermediate level upwards, although motivated beginners are very welcome too.
Lessons are typically 50 or 60 minutes and can be taught online or in person in London.
