About Hung-Chi
Hi! I’m Hung-Chi, a native Mandarin speaker with a strong passion for helping others learn my language in a way that feels natural, practical, and enjoyable. I understand how overwhelming it can be to memorize lists of vocabulary or grammar rules that don’t make sense on their own. That’s why my teaching method focuses on contextual understanding, not just translations or rote memorization.

As a native Mandarin speaker, I believe that true language learning goes far beyond memorizing vocabulary lists or rigid translations. My teaching approach centers on helping learners build a natural understanding of Mandarin by exploring the contextual meanings behind words and phrases. I aim to create a flexible and supportive learning environment where students can feel confident expressing themselves in real-world situations.
My methodology combines:
Context-based teaching, focusing on how vocabulary and grammar are actually used in daily life
Conversational practice, to develop fluency and listening comprehension
Cultural references, to make the learning experience more engaging and authentic
Adaptable lesson styles, based on the learner’s pace, interests, and goals
A typical lesson includes:
A quick review of previous material in a short, casual dialogue
Introduction of new phrases or grammar through real-life examples (not word-for-word translation)
Targeted speaking and listening practice in common social or professional contexts
A short recap and optional homework or reflection task
