We’ll start by discussing what you’re currently studying and exactly where you’re feeling stuck. I want to know what’s most urgent for you — whether it’s a difficult topic, an assignment, dosage calculations, or an upcoming exam. Once we identify the focus, we’ll break the topic down step by step. I explain concepts in a simple, clear way using clinical examples so you actually understand what’s happening in real patient scenarios. Whether it’s pathophysiology, pharmacology, lab values, or care plans, I make sure you understand the why behind everything — not just memorize information. During the session, we’ll work through NCLEX-style practice questions together, review rationales, and strengthen your critical thinking. I like to use diagrams, mnemonics, and small high-yield details that help connect the bigger picture. We’ll end the lesson with active recall — short review questions or a mini quiz — to make sure everything truly makes sense. I’ll also guide you on exactly what to focus on before our next session and provide customized study resources based on your needs. My goal is simple: help you understand concepts in a way that makes sense to you, so you feel confident, not overwhelmed.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in medicine at a very young age because I was always curious about how the human body works and how diseases can be prevented or treated. During medical school and my house job, I realized I naturally enjoyed explaining concepts to classmates and juniors. Many students told me my explanations made difficult topics simple, and that motivated me to start private tutoring. Over time, teaching became a genuine passion for me.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Biology, Chemistry, Medical subjects, Nursing subjects, MCAT/MDCAT preparation, and pathophysiology.

I enjoy explaining physiology, pharmacology, and clinical reasoning because students often struggle with these, and I love simplifying them through examples and stories. I also enjoy exam preparation strategies, especially for MCAT/MDCAT/Nursing.

There’s nothing I dislike, but rote memorization topics like long classifications are less enjoyable — still, I teach them using memory tricks so students learn easily.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes. During medical school, I had a professor who always said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” That line stayed with me. He taught with clarity and patience, and he inspired me to adopt the same approach. His influence shaped not only my medical journey but also my teaching style.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A good tutor must be:

    Patient

    Clear in explanation

    Flexible in teaching style

    Supportive and encouraging

    Able to simplify complex topics

    Consistent and committed

Above all, a good tutor should make the student feel comfortable asking questions and should adjust the teaching method to match the student’s learning style.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my house job in the emergency department, a nursing student once asked me why certain patients collapse after giving a medication. I explained the entire concept of preload, afterload, and reflex tachycardia in just 2 minutes using a simple analogy. She later told me, “This is the first time I finally understood it.” That moment made me realize how powerful simple explanations can be.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Like many students, I initially struggled with long pharmacology lists, complicated biochemical pathways, and memorizing anatomy. Over time, I learned to break concepts into patterns, visuals, and stories.

Now as a teacher, my challenge is making sure every student — regardless of level — feels supported and confident. But it has made me a more adaptable tutor.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Teaching is genuinely my passion. I enjoy turning difficult topics into simple and interesting explanations. It feels rewarding when students tell me they finally understand something they struggled with for years.

Medicine and teaching both complement each other for me — one strengthens my clinical understanding, and the other strengthens my ability to guide students.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my ability to simplify complex concepts, my patience, and my student-centered approach. I treat every student individually, adjust my teaching style to their needs, and create a friendly environment where they feel confident.

I genuinely care about my students’ progress and success. Their results and feedback motivate me to improve continuously.
