About Joshua
A little about me- I am a first year student in the Bachelor of Science program at UBCO that recently moved to Kelowna from Coquitlam to begin my studies. I first began playing the piano at the age of 5- being fascinated by a DVD of a live classical music performance. Ever since I began playing, it became a passion of mine that continues to this day.
In terms of tutoring experience, I tutored a very selective pool of students back in Coquitlam between 2019~2022, but I am looking to expand that in Kelowna and take on a wider range of students- from completely new beginners up-to RCM level 8 students. I previously worked at camps such as SFU’s soccer camp, and therefore have experience in working with children as well. Currently, I am a student tutor at UBCO’s piano club.
My most notable achievements/qualifications are as follows=
- Completion of RCM program up to Grade 10, earning First-class honors with distinction at every level
- Winner of 2019 RCM Canada Grade 9 gold medal
- Winner of 2021 Saskatchewan Provincial Music Festival

My name is Josh, I am offering my services as a piano tutor for $25 for 45-minute, or $30 for 1 hour lessons.
For the taught material, I plan to teach my students in the RCM curriculum, as it is the most effective approach to learning piano. All levels are welcome.
This curriculum aims to develop the student’s ability to read and comprehend music, along with learning basic techniques such as scales and sight reading. Most importantly, contemporary pieces divided up into different "lists" based on the time of their creation.
