About Kathy
My name is Kathy. I live in Tekapo in New Zealand, one of the best International Dark Sky Reserves in the world.
I am a Senior Astronomy Guide. I have also been a primary school teacher overseas in multiple countries. Graduated from Diploma in Astronomy and Bachelor Degree in Engineering, I love taking people for a journey into the space, looking at stars, planets, our Moon, or even some rare astronomical events.

Ms. Kathy’s Online Astronomy Class showcases the wonder of the universe. All are welcomed but the classes are specifically designed for children aged 5 to aged 12.
Students learn knowledge and techniques on how to observe planets, stars and objects from our Earth. Utilizing one’s imagination plays an important role in class. By arising the curiosity through various topics about the space, students can dream without boundaries, embrace the uncertainties that lie outside of our world, and realize where they are in the vast universe. They may even encounter some aliens or discover a whole new planet during this space adventure!
There are multiple levels of courses students can register in. Entry level courses descriptions are listed below:

Level 2 All about Stars
- Stars
- Deep Sky Objects

- Nebulae
- Life Cycle of Stars
Level 3 Constellations
- Constellations near North Circumpolar Region

- Zodiac Constellations
(After finishing the entry level classes, students can choose to study further as well.)
Duration: 30 minutes each lesson
Number of lessons in each level: 12
All lessons are conducted in English as that’s the language which scientists are using on the International Space Station (ISS)! If you specifically want it to be conducted in other language, please discuss.
