About Rebecca
Singing, playing the piano and guitar, Rebecca Roberts has worked around the world in many musical outfits.
Rebecca has spent this last year performing at exciting venues such the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Stadium with Blur and London Community Gospel Choir. Taking the word eclectic to a new level, Rebecca Roberts has supported artists from a wide variety of genres. Her comedic ska band The Bullets warmed up for The Beat; her Jazz trio supported Alexander O Neal; and Rebecca Roberts' solo show lead to many gigs and festivals where she was lucky enough to be on the same bills as some of her biggest idols, such as Glen Tilbrook, Boo Hewerdine, and Neil Hannon.
One of the the highlights was being asked to sing 'A Woman's Heart' with Eleanor McEvoy. When Rebecca told Eleanor how she remembers singing the classic girls duet with her best friend in the school playground and fighting over who would 'be Eleanor' Eleanor replied, "well this time I will let you be me".
Back in the day Rebecca Roberts was herself supported by somebody who is now one of the most successful singer songwriters in the world, Ed Sheeran.
Rebecca began her singing life performing with her mother around Ireland. Her mother is also a well known singer, Rebecca Storm. At the age of 7 Rebecca played little Cossette in Les Miserables and later at 16 was asked to play Jenny in Aspects of Love with a cast including her mother and John Barrowman.

I teach priceless skills in vocal technique. Technique is arguably the most important part of teaching singing, because it is about taking care of your voice correctly so that you can sing forever. The joy of singing should be shared and passed onto friends and family, but if you have not been using your voice safely over the years then you will be frustrated at not being able to let that song out that you used to sing so well. If you are taught to sing correctly however then you should be able to sing it to your great-grandchildren.
If you are an artist who's career has just taken off, and now you have to sing consectutive nights on a tour, then you'll really wish you'd had those singing lessons that you'd kept meaning to get.
Would you like to be able to jump around the stage, dance and run whilst singing with a controlled voice? Great, give me a call and we can get moving.
Would you like to be able to sing whilst playing an instrument? I can give you some great exercises to help, and pick songs that will suit your voice and ability on the chosen instrument.
I can also help you with microphone technique and general stage performance & choreography.
After a performance lesson with me you will leave feeling exhilerated, and more confident every time.
Some would say that it is not possible to define what is good or bad in singing, because it is subjective. I believe that what is important is knowing why or why not you like something and, by analysing the sound and performance, start to develop an ear that isn't just about pitch, but also about sounds and character.
Pitch and harmony are a very important part of singing, and this is where in my lessons I relate to music theory. Even if you find music theory boring, you will learn theory in my lessons without even knowing. I sneak it in there the way a parent hides the vegetables in the mashed potato at dinner time.
If you are somebody who loves a bit of music theory (as much as I love carrots!) then I can put you through London College of Music exams. Past students have been awarded as high as 98% Distinction at Grade 8.
Whether working towards passing an exam, an audition or a competition, or simply at feeling comfortable enough to sing along in public, I can work to suit your individual voice and personality.
All face-to-face classes can be recorded, with the option to record a song or even an album.
