• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I was first asked to tutor privately in 1998 by the Sultan of Dubai. After this, I taught in schools and also tutored privately, both in person and online.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I offer a range of subjects, maths and English as well as most subjects up to KS3.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Mr Gould inspired me in secondary school. His planning and interest generated a passion for me in his subject.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  A tutor needs: patience, good listener, supportive, caring, flexible, well prepared and constantly adapting.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Slowly , slowly catchee monkey (B . Powell). Keep working, you will get there.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  Probably the hardest part of tutoring is learning, gauging and understanding how my students attain knowledge and building on this.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different.

  My passion in tutoring is variety, subjects, age of students, setting and achieving goals.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  I love helping and working with students of different backgrounds, academic levels and different ages.
